PROTECTING YOURSELF THIS FLU SEASON
Flu season is almost upon us. With the season just around the corner, here’s some further information on protecting you and your loved ones.
3 things you might not know about the flu shot
- You cannot get the flu from the flu vaccine because it does not contain any live virus.
- The composition of the vaccine changes every year
- After the vaccination, it is still possible to get flu but it will usually be much milder.
Who should get the flu shot?
Annual vaccination is recommended for all people aged 6 months and over. It’s especially important for pregnant women, very young children, the elderly and those who suffer from chronic health concerns.
When to get the flu shot?
Vaccinating from April provides protection before the peak season takes place. While protection generally lasts for the whole season, the best protection occurs within the first 3 to 4 months following vaccination.
Speak with your doctor or health professional, and get protected before flu season arrives.
